CAS is an experiential learning component of the Diploma Program. Students complete a wide variety of extracurricular, community service and athletic options to fulfill the requirement. The CAS component begins in August at the start of the junior year. IB requires 150 hours over two years, distributed between creative, action, and service activities. Students document their activities on Schoology, and write a self-evaluation/reflection paper due April of their senior year. There is no grade for CAS, however it must be completed to receive the IB diploma.
The activities performed for CAS hours cannot result in a grade or compensation and cannot be used as recognition in any other program, such as Scouts or 4H or National Honor Society. Students select their own projects and IB directs us to interpret the areas broadly to include as many areas of activities as possible. Please visit the My Cherry Creek Website, and login to your Schoology account to access the Epic Community Volunteer course
