❝One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way.❞

‒Frank Smith

Smoky Hill High School offers both classical and modern languages that focus on meaningful language use and practice.  Through the use of technology, cooperative learning and engaging activities world language students strengthen their communication skills and improve critical thinking skills. Students who study a new language not only deepen their connection to other cultures but also leave with a better understanding of their own.

Smoky Hill is proud to offer Latin, Japanese, Spanish and French in our World Language Department.  We also offer students the opportunity to travel to a variety countries so that they can experience first hand a new culture and put their language skills to use.
