Homecoming Wish Week

SHHS news - 10/8/14

Five years ago, under the guidance of Smoky Hill Activities Director Scott Cohen and the Student Government program, Homecoming Week took on a larger purpose for the Buff community.   That year, Smoky Hill adopted a Make-A-Wish child, around whom to build Spirit Week and for whom to fundraise.  Since that first Make-A-Wish child, Smoky has raised $63,000 for this important organization.

Homecoming 2014 is no different.

This year, the Smoky Hill community is raising money to grant Laurel’s wish to go to Disney World.  Every Homecoming activity is an opportunity to help grant Laurel’s wish.

On Monday night, $1500 was raised at the Buff Puff volleyball game.   Last night, students gathered on the football field to watch a movie together; the $3 admission fee goes straight to Laurel’s wish. Tonight, the DECA carnival will be from 5 pm - 7 pm in the bus lane in front of Smoky Hill.   Proceeds from that event will also go to benefit Laurel’s wish.   The week will end with collections taken up at all Smoky Hill sporting events and the Tailgate before the football game at Legacy stadium Friday night.

We encourage members of our community to stop by the Main Office to drop off donations to help Laurel go to Disney World.
