Fall is a busy time in the counseling office. During September, counselors presented in the freshmen FAST classes. The focus of the presentation was to introduce Naviance to all freshmen. Naviance is a web-based service designed especially for students, parents, and counselors. Naviance helps in making decisions about courses, colleges, and careers. Counselors also use it to track and analyze data about college and career plans. It provides up-to-date information specific to our school and our students' needs. Naviance truly supports the goal of every student graduating and being college and work ready.
Freshmen have also completed the StrengthsExplorer career interest inventory on Naviance. StrengthsExplorer identifies each student's three strongest emerging talents, provides explanations of these themes, strategies for capitalizing on each, and action items to help students gain insight into their greatest talents to leverage in the classroom and in life. Students can share their results with parents/guardians through their Naviance accounts. Counselors will return to FAST classes in November to help students complete their academic plan and set goals for high school and post-secondary.
The class of 2016 should be working on the college admissions process and post high school planning. Seniors should be meeting with their counselor for a senior conference to discuss graduation credit progress and post-graduation plans. Parent(s)/guardian(s) are highly encouraged to participate in their child's senior conference. Remember to continue to check Naviance for college visit schedules, scholarship information, dates and events.
