IB Junior Induction Ceremony

On Friday, November 20th, at 8:30 a.m., the Smoky Hill IB World School will officially welcome into the IB Diploma program, 93 juniors representing the Class of 2017!   Juniors will receive the IB pins they will wear with their IB stoles at graduation next year.  Our official photographer, Jack Eberhard, will take class photos.  Photos of the ceremony can be purchased directly from  All MYP and Diploma Program students are required to attend this ceremony.

Angel Donations

We have an angel in our midst!  Last year, we came together as an IB school to raise $5,000 for exams fees to fund partial scholarships for our students in financial need.  A private donor matched our funds enabling us to provide financial assistance for 25 students.   Our Angel Fund will kick off again during our Junior Induction Ceremony and carry on through the end of the semester.   Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to our fund.   Any amount would be appreciated.   Checks can be made payable to Smoky Hill High School c/o IB Angel Fund.   If your employer participates in matching donations, please share this information at your workplace.

Diploma Program 5-year Review

Parents of diploma students (juniors and seniors), please take a few moments to complete the parent survey for our 5-year review.  Please take a few minutes to participate in our parent survey for our 5-year review.  The link for the study can be found on the IB page of the Smoky Hill website or you can go directly to the survey by clicking on this link:  DP 5-year review .  Your responses to this survey are greatly appreciated and will be used to improve the delivery of the IB at Smoky Hill.

MYP Personal Project

MYP Personal Project is well underway. Students should have defined a project and should be planning and working towards its completion.  By fall break, students should have found a community mentor to help clarify and refine their project.  A community mentor can be any adult (not a parent to the child) who can contribute to some portion of the project.

The workshop for November is on Monday, November 16th,  in the SHHS library.

Any parent or community member interesting in being a Personal Project Mentor should contact Kathleen Fitzgerald, Personal Project Coordinator at 720-886-5526.
