IB Junior Induction Ceremony

Congratulations to our 83 juniors representing the IB Class of 2017!  During the ceremony, these students received their IB pins and were officially welcomed into the IB Diploma program.  Class pictures from all four levels and other photos from the ceremony can be found at jacksactionshots.com

Interested in the IB program at Smoky Hill?

IB Middle Years Program Coordinator, Cheryl Paricio will be visiting Smoky Hill feeder middle schools in December to share information regarding the International Baccalaureate Program at Smoky Hill.   Joining her will be IB Diploma Coordinator, Patricia Wetmore, IB Counselors Michelle Kleve and Bob Kennedy and current IB Seniors.

If you have an 8th grader, we will be visiting Laredo on December 1st;  Horizon on December 8th and Challenge on January 22nd.  Please contact your middle school's counseling department for more information.

Smoky Hill's 8th grade parent night is a great time to check out Smoky Hill IB!  On January 14th at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria, all parents interested in the IB program are invited to meet the coordinators, get your questions answered and learn more about this unique college preparatory program.

IB Alumni Day-a new format

Due to changes to the end of the semester finals schedule, we are unable to host our IB alumni for our annual Alumni Day.  We still value our alum sharing their first semester college experiences thus we've created the opportunity for them to film short thirty to sixty second videos on their college campuses.  These videos will be compiled and uploaded to our IB page on the Smoky Hill website.

IB Oasis

Final exams in January means IB Oasis time!  Parents of IB students are asked to contribute water and healthy snacks for our students to consume during their breaks between exams.   Please contact SHIBPA co-chair Maria Hwang (720- 375-6369) for more information.

Personal Project Deadlines

All semester one requirements are due by December 14th to receive a satisfactory grade.  Folders can be found in the MYP English 10 classes for items not turned in online.

Angel Donations

We have an angel in our midst!  Last year, we came together as an IB school to raise $5,000 for exams fees to fund partial scholarships for our students in financial need.  A private donor matched our funds enabling us to provide financial assistance for 25 students.   Our Angel Fund Challenge kicked off during our Junior Induction Ceremony and will carry on to the end of the semester. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to our fund.   Any amount would be appreciated.   Checks can be made payable to Smoky Hill High School c/o IB Angel Fund.   If your employer participates in matching donations, please share this information at your workplace.
