Hello Smoky Hill!
This time of year is an exciting time for DECA. All of the members have been learning various business marketing skills throughout the year and after hard work and many competitions, it’s time to show what we know as we go to the DECA State Conference at the Broadmoor. This year we are taking 90 students, many more students than last year. This experience will provide opportunities to enhance student’s knowledge about business and marketing, apply skills they have already learned, and a great way to create team work with fellow members. Students will attend workshops, role plays, presentations, and special events.
As many of you may already know, Smoky Hill hosted a Winter Wish Week where we granted a wish of a little boy, Isaac, to go to Disney World through the Make A Wish Foundation. DECA held a miracle minute at the basketball game and collected donations as well as hosting a Marketplace during this week. Students created booths with food and games to help raise money. DECA was able to raise $2,500 of the $10,000 that the entire Smoky Hill Community raised. Great job! Also during Wish Week, Smoky Hill filmed a Lip Dub and the DECA members did a wonderful job with singing, dancing, and showing school spirit. Be sure to check it out!
Just a reminder, registration for next year is approaching. Make sure you sign up for a Marketing class as your 6th class or first choice elective. You don’t want to miss out on one of the best programs at Smoky Hill. We’re looking forward to another successful year of DECA!
