The SHHS Orchestra and Band travelled to New York City over spring break and shared the unique privilege of performing in one of the world’s most famous concert venues, Carnegie Hall.   A group of over 100 Smoky Hill students spent 5 days in the city, where they had the opportunity to see a Broadway musical, tour the NBC Studios, visit the Ground Zero Memorial site, walk around central park, visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and ultimately perform in Carnegie Hall.  Our students performed on the renowned stage with the National Band and Orchestra Festival, and also received feedback from guest conductors/clinicians from Illinois State University, University of Miami, St. Olaf College, and Luther College.  Mr. Ruffert and Ms. Peele were especially proud of our students’ musicianship and professionalism as they represented Smoky Hill in New York.  Congrats to these exceptional young musicians!
