IB Parent Meeting
Please mark your calendars for our Smoky Hill IB Parent Association (SHIBPA)meeting on Tuesday, September 10th, from 7-8 p.m. in the Smoky Hill Lecture Center. SHIBPA president, Karen Mitchell, will discuss volunteer opportunities. Get involved in your child’s IB journey! Join SHIBPA today!

Royal Arch Climb
As per tradition, our annual senior kick-off was held up in Boulder at the majestic Chautauqua Park.  The Royal Arch trail is a three-mile round trip starting at 5,170 feet with an elevation gain of 1,200 feet.  65 seniors joined our IB Staff on the morning of August 6th climbing in teams, encouraging one another when the trail became especially tough, and learning that although reaching the summit is the ultimate goal, one can still gain invaluable experience from the journey. What a great metaphor for their senior year in IB!

IB Bootcamp  (see pic)
Our Senior IB mentors welcomed 137 new MYP freshmen to Smoky Hill with fun and games followed by an ice cream social and their first class picture.  This annual event helps ease the transition to high school by acquainting our freshman to our IB culture and inviting them to become active members in our community of learners.  Welcome Class of 2017!

Ethical Pledge
New to the check-in packet was the IB Ethical Pledge.  If you missed it, please download a copy from the IB page on the Smoky Hill website, read, sign and have your student drop it off at the IB Office ASAP.  Mrs. Wills-Keely and Mrs. Wetmore will personally meet with any students who haven’t signed their pledge within the first couple of weeks of school.
