Welcome back to the start of a new year and a new semester for Smoky Hill students. The start of the second semester brings with it some significant planning activities for our students.
As seniors prepare for their final semester, planning for graduation is underway. Seniors, parents and counselors need to collaborate closely to ensure that all graduation requirements are completed. The 2012 Graduation Ceremony will be held at the University of Denver Ritchie Center on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 12:00 p.m.
Juniors are scheduled to take the state mandated ACT on Tuesday, April 24. Begin preparing today by using Method Test Prep on Naviance. It is a great way to get a head start on test taking strategies for both the ACT and SAT.
Freshmen, sophomores and juniors will begin the pre-registration process of the 2012-2013 school year this month. Working in partnership with your student’s teachers and counselors we ask that you actively participate in the planning and selection of courses that will help prepare your student for academic success at a two or four year college.
As we work together toward the academic success for your student, we realize how important the communication is between students, parents and teachers. We have planned Parent Conferences for Thursday, February 23 from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity for you to touch base with your child’s teachers, counselor and dean.
I wish you all the very best in 2012!
