COUNSELING CORNER-APRIL 2012
March was a busy month in the counseling office.  Juniors have begun their junior conferences and the post-secondary planning process.  Junior conferences will continue throughout the month of April.  Juniors who have not completed their conference should make an appointment with their counselor in the counseling office.
The state ACT test for all juniors is Tuesday, April 24th.  Naviance has a free online test preparation program for all students.  Method Test Prep is an excellent program for lessons, strategies, and practice tests.

Juniors should also plan to attend the Denver Spring College fair on Sunday, April 22, 2012, from 1:00—3:30 p.m. held at the University of Denver in the Richie Center.  The college fair is free to all students.  This is an excellent opportunity for juniors to meet college admissions representatives and begin the college search process.  Students can pre-register for the fair which saves time on the day of the fair.  To register for the college fair, students should go to www.gotocollegefairs.com and complete the survey and print their barcode admissions ticket.  The process takes 10—15 minutes.  Pre-registration saves time and assures colleges get correct student information.

Counselors will also present in the sophomore social studies classes in April.  The focus of the presentations will be on career interest and career pathways.
Seniors need to finish strong as we are on the final stretch to graduation.  College and universities will want a final transcript and to see final grades for the final decisions.
