Academic/Activity Letter
Application
Available in the Activities Office

The primary goal of an Academic/Activity letter is to reward students for academic/activity success in a manner similar to a letter awarded to a varsity athlete.  The letter should represent a significant contribution to the school.  Students must accumulate a total of ten points evenly distributed in two categories – academics and activities.  To be awarded points for academic and activities, a student must be an active participant.  Students will only be given points for true participation.

Any student interested in pursuing this letter should come to the Activities Office to pick up an application form. Applications are due by Wednesday, April 30th.

WHY YOU SHOULD PAY YOUR
ACTIVITY FEE

Why should you pay your Activity Fee?  That is a good question because most parents and students don’t really know where that $30 goes.  The money is divided among Athletics, Activities, and PTCO.  Some of the benefits of the Activity Fee are:

  • All regular season Home Athletic Events are FREE with a paid Activity Fee.
  • World Awareness Week is funded completely by the Activity Fee.
  • Homecoming, Winter Dance, Prom, and After Prom are supported by the Activity Fee.  Prices are discounted for each event with a paid Activity Fee.

The following list shows how the part earmarked for Activities is spent.  In some cases the money is the sole form of funding for a particular activity.  In other cases it is a supplement that reduces the cost of a product or event for students.  The following activities are funded by the Activity Fee:

Ambassadors of SHHS
Harry Potter Club
Newspaper
Amnesty International
Hip Hop Dance Club Poetry Club
Animal Rescue
Improv ProStart
Anime Club Japanese Club SADD
Brotherhood Jazz Band Science Bowl
Chamber Orchestra Key Club Sisterhood
Clay Club Latin Club SkillsUSA (Auto)
Dance Showcase Latino Leadership Group  Spanish Club

Destination Imagination LINK Step Team
Digital Evolutions Marching Band Student Government
Drama Club Math Club Symphonic Choir
English Honor Society Mock Trial World Affairs
Environmental Club Model UN

You should pay your Activity Fee because it supports the activities listed above and because the activities listed impact YOU and YOUR STUDENT!

A new ID will be issued with a receipt from Bookkeeping in the Security Office.
