Counselors in conjunction with activities hosted the senior assembly on College Readiness day on September 17th.   Post high school planning and the college application process were discussed.  Seniors had the opportunity to also hear from experts in the areas of:  four year colleges/universities, two year colleges with transfer options, military and ROTC, and financial aid.   Seniors need to follow up this information session with an individual appointment with counselors to go over plans and credits towards graduation.
Many colleges and universities from around the country will be visiting Smoky Hill to meet with seniors in October.  Students should check the visit schedule on Naviance and plan to attend these sessions for the schools they are interested in.  Colleges meet with students in the Post Graduate Center located next to the counseling office.  This is a great opportunity for students to make a connection with a college admissions representative and to have questions answered.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity.
Counselors presented in Freshman Seminar classes to discuss college readiness and resources.  Every freshman was also registered for Naviance and now has a working account accessible through the internet.  Freshmen students are encouraged to make appointments with their counselor to introduce themselves.
