Seniors

Whether you have filed your college applications, have already received your admission decisions, waiting to hear back from colleges or just starting to contemplate where you want to be next year, please remember that Post Grad and your counselor are great resources.

If you are applying for financial aid, we recommend that families have filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by now or in the very near future.  You can find FAFSA forms online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Please apply for a PIN number before filing your FAFSA, which you can do at www.pin.ed.gov.  Also check with your colleges to see if they require the CSS Profile as an additional financial form.  The Profile can be found online at http://profileonline.collegeboard.com

We will be celebrating College Friday on April 11th in Post Grad.  Seniors, come sign the Post Grad window!

Juniors

If you have not done so, please schedule your Junior Conference with your counselor.

Denver College Fair

The annual RMACAC/Colorado Council Denver College Fair will be on Sunday, April 6, 2014, from 1-3:30 pm, at the University of Denver. Admission for students, parents and high school counselors is free.  This event is open to the public.

They will again be using the barcode and scanner system to expedite the exchange of information between students and colleges at recruiting events.  Students will pre-register for the events at www.gotocollegefairs.com.

Students should Pre-Register
No need to fill out cards with the same information at every table! Pre-registration is available for students through a simple, online registration page. This saves the student a lot of time and effort.

  1. Pre-registration is free for students and they can register by visiting www.gotocollegefairs.com.
  2. After completing the easy online registration form, hit SUBMIT to print out your personal registration barcode.
  3. Bring this barcode with you to the fair and spend your time talking to admission representatives and learning about their schools.

Method Test Prep.png

This new and improved online test preparation for the ACT and SAT is available on Naviance for sophomores, juniors and seniors.  It provides an easy and efficient way to do a full test prep curriculum or to target specific areas that students may need to work on.  For example, many students struggle with the pace of the Reading section of the ACT and score lower on this section than others.  If that is the case, a student may want to practice specific reading questions, and read up on this site that will help a student better pace themselves.  Find the link on your student's Naviance page.

AP Exam Registration

Smoky Hill students can register for their AP exams online by going to www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/60452. Students must register for exams by 3:00 p.m., March 24, 2014. For the 2014 AP Exams, the cost is $89.00 per exam.

Once registration is complete, students will need to print a copy of the confirmation form, bring that and payment to the Post Grad Center.  Payment MUST accompany your confirmation.  You can pay with cash, credit card or a check payable to Smoky Hill High School.  Exams will not be ordered until full payment has been received.

Please contact Mrs. Susan Connally, sconnally@cherrycreekschools.org if you have any questions.
