IB Evaluation Site Visits and 5-year Review

Our IB World School is currently preparing for our MYP Evaluation visit on October 1-3 and our Diploma program self-study is due June 2015.  Both programs (MYP and DP) are excited about the opportunity to share how we have implemented the IB program in our school.   Check out the IB page on the Smoky Hill website for more details.

IB Parent Meetings

Smoky Hill IB Parent Association (SHIBPA) will meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month.  Tuesday, September 16th, will be a joint meeting with our PTCO beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Smoky Hill Lecture Center.  Get involved in your child's IB journey!  Join SHIBPA today!

Reynolds Park Eagles View Climb (see pic attached)

This year, our annual hike took place near Conifer at Reynolds Park.  The Eagle's view trail is a four-mile trip starting at 7,240 feet with an elevation gain of 1,150 feet.  Thirty-nine seniors joined our IB staff on the morning of August 4th climbing in teams, encouraging one another when the trail became tough, and learning that although reaching the summit and taking in the panoramic view of the mountains is the ultimate goal, one can still gain invaluable experience from the journey. What a great metaphor for their senior year in IB!

IB Boot Camp  (see pic attached)

Our senior IB mentors welcomed 125 new MYP freshmen to Smoky Hill with fun and games followed by an ice cream social and their first class picture.  This annual event helps ease the transition to high school by acquainting our freshman to our IB culture and inviting them to become active members in our community of learners.  Welcome Class of 2018!

Ethical Pledge

New to the check-in packet was the IB Ethical Pledge.  If you missed it, please download a copy from the IB page on the Smoky Hill website, read, sign and have your student drop it off at the IB Office ASAP.  Mrs. Wills-Keely and Mrs. Wetmore will personally meet with any students who have not signed their pledge within the first couple of weeks of school.
